Another problem that diabetes can cause comes from your body’s inability to get glucose to the cells that need it. If it is deprived of its main fuel source, your body will launch into a backup plan: burning fat for energy. The breakdown products of the process, called ketones, can accumulate in your blood, and eventually in your urine.
