Warts - we all get them and we all find them embarrassing, ugly and inconvenient. The Wart Learning Center Multimedia Image Gallery provides pictures of what these skin growths look like. Warts are caused by viruses. Signs of warts can be found in the Wart Learning Center Symptoms section.
Consult your doctor for treatments available for warts. Warts are sometimes difficult to treat and your doctor may have to try more than one method before they go away. Consult the Wart Learning Center's Complications section for more information about possible complications of warts and their treatment.
Genital warts need special treatment. Please refer to our Genital Warts(HPV) Learning Center if you find warts in the genital area. Warts come in many shapes and sizes and while often seen in children, anyone can get a wart at any age. They are benign - that is not life threatening - but they may be somewhat contagious. Warts are common in immunosuppressed patients, such as people with AIDS or those receiving therapy for an organ transplant.
As warts start to resolve spontaneously, they may turn black. Don't be alarmed. That's a sign they are going away.
